Quality Enhancement Plan Director & Grants Manager

I am excited to be the Quality Enhancement Plan Director & Grants Manager for Coastal Bend College! I have been working at CBC since 2007 and in education since 1993.

I was born in Waco, Texas and attended a very small school district, Axtell ISD, from 1st–12th grade.  After graduation, I attended McLennan Community College then Texas A&I-Kingsville where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I taught Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for 4 years. While teaching, I took night classes at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and received my Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling in 1996. I worked as an elementary, middle school, and high school counselor, Project Director of Upward Bound G.O.S.T. at Coastal Bend College then Title V Coordinator at CBC before taking this position.

We were a low income family and neither of my parents nor any of my immediate family had attended college. I received Pell Grants, scholarships, food stamps, and participated in the JTPA program (like WorkForce) in order to pay for and get through college. It wasn’t an easy road to where I am today, but I did it and I know that with our support Coastal Bend College students can be successful too!
