At Coastal Bend College, personnel from different administrative units work together towards continuously improving programs and services along with the Department of Institutional Effectiveness in hopes of fulfilling institutional level reporting requirements, research, and information preparation.
Dr. Shannon M. Lane is the Director of Institutional
Effectiveness and Accreditation at Coastal Bend College (CBC). She currently
oversees CBC’s institutional research division, as well as all work pertaining
to accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission
on Colleges (SACS-COC). Lane came to CBC from Mississippi State University
(MSU) where she served as the Coordinator of the National e-Commerce Extension
Initiative from 2008-2011, and as the Undergraduate Coordinator of Study for
the Department of Sociology from 2011-2014. During her time at MSU, Lane
designed online learning modules and evaluated their impacts among rural
entrepreneurs as well as worked closely with faculty who wished to utilize
technological education as part of their community outreach programs. Her
outstanding work as an MSU faculty member led her students to nominate her for
Academic Advisor of the Year in both 2012 and 2013. She was also an invited
keynote speaker at Cornell University, as well as the Public Issues Leadership
Development Conference. Lane earned her Ph.D. from South Dakota University
where she studied the long term impacts of consumer education on actual
consumer behaviors, and was awarded a NASA Ph.D. Fellowship in evaluation in
2007 and 2008. Now home in her native Texas, Dr. Lane is a proud
member of the CBC family.
Thelma has a Masters Degree from America InterContinental University in 2008. She started at CBC in August of 2002. Before her role as a Research Associate she was a software trainer. She has one son and one grandson.
Evelyn Cook is the Chief Programmer at Coastal Bend College.
Evelyn earned two Associate of Applied Science degrees at CBC, one in
Programming and the other in Accounting. As a CBC employee for many years, she
has served on various committees. She has also held a position on two national
board of directors for student information systems.
Rolando is a graduate of CBC with a degree in Computer Information Technology and over 10 combined years of experience in the IT field as a programmer/analyst and technology specialist. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, video games, comic books, dabbling in art, and scouring the internet for 80's music videos.
