Richard Carrera was raised in Cuero, Texas where he
graduated from Cuero High school in 1957.
He left for the Army right after graduation and upon his return he went
to work as a salesman for Lacks stores in Victoria, Texas. He remained with Lacks Stores for a number of
years while at the same time he enrolled at night school and for the next
twenty four years he attended college at night.
Mr. Carrera graduated from Victoria Jr. College and
continued school at CCSU in Corpus Christi and the University of Pan Am in
Edinburg. Richard received a Bachelor’s
degree in History and a minor in Government.
He also attended several other colleges and universities while starting
several businesses in Beeville, Texas.
Mr. Carrera’s love for learning was such that after
receiving his degrees, he applied for a job at Coastal Bend College and began
his career as a college professor. Mr.
Carrera presently teaches at the CBC Beeville campus and states that teaching
is the best job he has ever had. Working
with students is indeed extremely rewarding for Mr. Carrera.
