Leonard B. Scott is a retired Captain from the Corpus Christi Police Department having 36 years of distinguished service. At retirement, his service to the Department was the Command of the Department’s and Region’s technology operations including planning for, as well as recovery from natural and/or manmade disasters. Mr. Scott was the project manager for the City of Corpus Christi for the deployment of the Citywide Automated Gas and Water meter reading system (AMR) and the deployment of Citywide Wi-Fi. In February 2006, Mr. Scott was named by Government Technology Magazine as one of the “Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers in the United States”. He has served as a primary speaker at events throughout the world and continues to be quoted by leading publications as a primary strategist for wireless data systems and software. Mr. Scott is a 1976 graduate of Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi having earned both a BS and BA degree. He is a 1984 graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi and a 1988 graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police sponsored by the Police Executive Research Forum, Harvard University and Boston College.. In addition to serving as an Instructor for Coastal Bend College Mr. Scott serves as the Director of Public Safety Technology Programs for the Public Technology Institute (www.pti.org) in Alexandria Virginia.
