PURPOSE

The Cougar Care Team at CBC works collaboratively and proactively to provide early intervention and assistance to students who may be in need of support. The team uses a variety of approaches to identify, assess, and alleviate risks associated with students who may be exhibiting concerning behaviors or thoughts. The CARE Team is dedicated to ensuring the overall well-being of students by connecting them with the appropriate resources and support services available on campus. By addressing concerns early on, the team aims to help students navigate challenges and obstacles they may be facing, and ultimately, to promote their success and well-being. The Cougar Care Team is made up of dedicated faculty, staff and administrators who are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students. Through their efforts, students have access to the help they need to overcome any difficulties they may be experiencing and to reach their full potential during their time at CBC.

ROLE OF THE CARE TEAM

One of the primary functions of the CARE Team is to educate and empower the college community to recognize, report, and effectively address concerning or disruptive behaviors. By raising awareness and providing guidance on how to respond to such situations, the team helps to create a culture of support and intervention on campus.

When a report is received, the CARE Team utilizes the NaBITA Risk Rubric, a tool that helps assess the level of risk and determine appropriate intervention strategies. This enables the team to make informed decisions about how to best support the student in need.

The CARE Team also works to connect students with campus and community resources that can provide additional support and assistance. By collaborating with various departments and organizations, the team ensures that students have access to the help they need to address their concerns and navigate any challenges they may be facing.

In some cases, the CARE Team may implement a case management plan or provide ongoing support services to help the student navigate through their difficulties. This may involve regular check-ins, referrals to counseling services, academic support, or any other resources that can help the student address their needs and work towards a positive outcome.
