Dr. Bea Espinoza 2

    Dr. Espinoza started her college path with the assistance of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) scholarship after 18 years as an agricultural farm-worker. She began college the fall after graduating from high school and earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American. She continued her study earning Master’s and Doctor’s degrees in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked as a university faculty, counselor and researcher for 12 years.

    Her transition into community college administration culminated 13 years ago as she completed a post-doctorate in the Community College Leadership Program at UT-Austin. Since then she has served in various administrative roles including director, dean, vice president, vice chancellor, in Texas, Illinois, Arizona, and California. Dr. Espinoza began her presidency at Coastal Bend College on June 1, 2012.

    Dr. Espinoza’s philosophy includes access and success for students. She attributes her college success largely to the support of her family and other people who cared. Cared enough to remove barriers, build bridges, and track new paths for a first generation college student. Dr. Espinoza is proud to be in South Texas growing the next generation of diverse professionals.
