Associate of Applied Science Degree Traditional RN Program Information 

 

The Traditional RN Program teaches skills to become a Licensed Registered Nurse with an Associate of Applied Science Degree. This program is held ONLY at our Beeville Campus. Classes are face to face, Monday through Thursday with varied hours, depending on required classes. The program begins in the Fall and will take four semesters (two years) to complete with the summer’s off from nursing classes. Pre-requisite courses are required for admission to this program.  Upon successful completion, graduates will earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN to become a Licensed as a Registered Nurse through the Texas Board of Nursing. 

 

Requirements for the program include: 

Selections for this program is very competitive.  The selection committee select applicants for the program according to a scoring system.  Points are scored for applicant's GPA, TEAS score, and completion of coursework. 

• TEAS test score (entrance exam for Nursing) of 60% or higher for the Professional Nursing Program   
• TSI ready as demonstrated in prior course work  
• Successful completion of prerequisite courses with a "C" or better  
• Cleared background check  
• Completion of all immunizations as required by the Texas Department of State Health Services  
• Current CPR certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association  

 

Application procedure: 

  

1. Apply for admission to the college by following the steps at:http://coastalbend.edu/future/        
2. Schedule and take the TEAS exam.         
3. Receive an application packet after taking and scoring 60 or better on the TEAS exam.       
4.  Receive and complete the application packet and submit it by the deadline.        
5. Await an email to see if you have been selected by the Selection Committee.        
6. Return your acceptance letter.       

 

To be eligible for admission, students must have completed the following prerequisites:  

 

• TSI Complete*      
• BIOL 2301/BIOL 2101 or BIOL 2401  
• BIOL 2302/BIOL 2102 or BIOL 2402  
• NURA 1301/NURA 1160 
• HPRS 1106
