Amanda Smith Vita
Amanda Smith is a graduate of the University of Texas at
Austin (BS of Microbiology, 2002) and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (MS of
Biology, 2009). Her graduate work was on the use of the statistical technique
Random Forests to increase accuracy in classification of sources of fecal contamination
in recreational waters in Texas.
She is currently the Science Learning Skills Specialist
at CBC and teaches BIOL2420 and BIOL1408 laboratory courses in Alice and
Kingsville. Amanda is also the advisor for the STEM club on all CBC sites.
In her spare time, Amanda likes to hang out at the beach
with her husband and chocolate lab, Deuce. She also likes to keep up with her
favorite TV shows.
