  • Complaint Process

Coastal Bend College encourages students to discuss their concerns and complaints through informal conferences with the appropriate instructor or other campus administrator. Concerns should be expressed as soon as possible to allow early resolution at the lowest possible administrative level. If an informal conference regarding a complaint fails to reach the outcome requested by the student, the student may initiate the formal process described below by timely filing a written complaint form.

Even after initiating the formal complaint process, students are encouraged to seek informal resolution of their concerns. A student whose concerns are resolved may withdraw a formal complaint at any time. For more information on the complaint process please refer to FLD Local. Additionally, a student may register a complaint with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

After exhausting the CBC complaint process, Texas residents may file a complaint with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and/or with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, CBCs regional accrediting agency.
External complaint processes often require that the student:

      1. Describe that all steps were taken as per the institution's complaint process.
      2. Describe the action taken by the institution to the student complaint.
      3. Provide a copy of the institution's response to the complaint.
