    Dr. Kyle Wagner is the Vice President of Instruction & Economic Development at Coastal Bend College. Dr. Wagner’s college experiences have involved teaching and pioneering new models in curriculum development, implementation, and management of collegiate programs. He started his educational career as a TA teaching Automotive and Aviation courses, advancing to Program Coordinator/Lead Instructor at several universities, moving to Community Colleges as a Division Chair, Assistant Dean, and Vice President. In his roles, he has managed several multi-year grants, multiple programs, and a dozen college innovation initiates with college wide implementation. 

    Dr. Wagner received his A&P Certification along with an Associate’s Degree in Technology to start his career in aviation maintenance with Horizon Airlines in Portland, OR. He continued his education by earning his Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology, Master of Science in Aviation Safety, and Doctor of Philosophy in Organization and Management. Prior to completing his academic studies, Dr. Wagner worked as an aircraft technician for eight years, as a business owner for 12 years, served on local government organizations and in Washington DC on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for John McCain during the 101st session of Congress. Dr. Wagner’s research, publishing and presentation areas are in incubation, entrepreneur development, economic partnerships, Stackable Credentials, and workforce education using credit and non-credit pathways through the embedment of industry certification.

    Dr. Wagner believes student access to education is the pathway to success in which he has lived himself. Dr. Wagner has developed numerous educational pathways aligned with career pathways providing education opportunities for students by utilizing industry-to-industry training, education to industry opportunities, and industry to education pathways. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors through camping, hiking, off-road motorcycle riding, four-wheeling, canoeing, skiing, and is active with the Boy Scouts. Dr. Wagner believes “Life is about enjoying life” and for Dr. Wagner it is sharing life and its experiences with his wife and four children, and now introducing “life’s many greats” to his grandson.
