Digital Accessibility Overview

The College’s primary digital platforms, including the institutional website and Blackboard, are designed to support accessibility standards. While these systems provide an accessible foundation, ensuring full accessibility ultimately depends on how content is created and shared within them. All employees who publish or upload materials share responsibility for making sure their content can be accessed and used by everyone.

The guidance and tools provided here are intended to support the creation of accessible webpages, electronic documents, and instructional materials within Blackboard. Applying these practices helps reduce unintended barriers and promotes consistent access across all digital environments.

Our online audience represents a wide range of users and technologies. Individuals may access content using mobile devices, assistive technologies, or alternative input methods—and some may not rely on a visual interface at all. Designing content with accessibility in mind improves clarity, usability, and engagement for all users, regardless of how they access information.

Effective accessibility also depends on using structure intentionally. Headings, lists, tables, and other formatting elements should be selected based on the type of information being presented. When content is organized using appropriate formats, it is easier to navigate, interpret, and interact with across platforms and devices.
