Pleasanton, TX – Coastal Bend College–Pleasanton, in partnership with the Atascosa County Child Welfare Board, welcomed more than 470 community members to campus on Monday, August 4, 2025, for the site’s second annual Back to School Bash, held from 3 to 6 p.m.
The event was designed to help local families kick off the school year with confidence, resources, and support. A total of 425 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to students of all ages, and more than 60 free haircuts were provided by licensed cosmetology volunteers from the community. Approximately 30 local vendors participated, offering services, information, and giveaways to students and their families.
"It’s such a great feeling to be part of an event that gives children the confidence and tools they need to start the school year strong,” said Melisa Herod, CBC-Pleasanton Site Administrative Assistant. "Being part of something that truly impacts our community in such a positive way is incredibly rewarding. Thank you to Atascosa County Child Welfare Board, everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this amazing event. Your generosity truly makes a difference!”
