BEEVILLE, Texas — Coastal Bend College celebrated the accomplishments of more than 100 graduates during its Fall 2025 Commencement ceremony held Friday, December 19, at the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center on the Beeville campus. Family members, faculty, staff, and community leaders gathered to honor students who completed associate degrees, certificates, and workforce credentials.
The ceremony’s keynote address was delivered by Maria Criste Bleibdrey, a 2016 CBC alumna and local business owner, whose personal journey reflected the determination and perseverance shared by many in the graduating class.
Bleibdrey spoke openly about growing up as an undocumented child and navigating fear and uncertainty while holding tightly to her parents’ sacrifices and belief in the power of education.
I want to share my story not because it is perfect, but because it proves that beginnings do not define endings.
She credited CBC with recognizing her potential beyond circumstances and providing the support that helped her rebuild her future. After completing her education, Bleibdrey went on to build CC’s Coffee Shop, a locally owned business centered on community, service, and opportunity. She encouraged graduates to trust their journey, remain disciplined, and view challenges as preparation rather than setbacks.
Your struggle is not your weakness. It is your strength,” she told the Class of 2025. “Your story is powerful. Your journey matters. And the world needs the greatness inside you.
CBC President Dr. Zachary Z. Suarez congratulated graduates and reaffirmed the College’s mission to expand access, strengthen pathways to success, and support students as they pursue academic and workforce goals.
Graduates represented academic transfer programs, career and technical education, and nursing and allied health disciplines. Honors graduates, Phi Theta Kappa members, dual credit students, and military veterans were recognized during the ceremony.
As caps were turned and tassels moved, the Fall 2025 graduates joined the growing CBC alumni community prepared to move forward with confidence, purpose, and the belief that success truly starts here.
