BEEVILLE, TX — The laughter of local children echoed across Joe Hunter Field on the evening of April 2, 2026, as more than 1,200 community members gathered for Coastal Bend College’s first Egg Hunt.
Hosted by the Coastal Bend College baseball and softball programs, the nighttime event brought families together under the stadium lights. Gates opened at 7:30 p.m., and festivities began shortly after as children and parents filled the field with anticipation. Participants took part in two age-specific hunts, ensuring a fun and safe experience for all.
As hundreds of children eagerly searched for colorful eggs scattered across the field, special guests joined in the excitement. Appearances by Charlie the Cougar and the Easter Bunny added to the festive atmosphere and helped create a family-centered celebration.
The event, which was free and open to the public, was made possible through the support of Trinity Chapel Beeville and New Life Church, who assisted in preparing thousands of Easter eggs.
Generous sponsors who donated candy and eggs included:
- Bee County Judge-elect Kristofer Linney
- Bee Hop Yogurt Hive
- Citrus Smiles
- Crystal Thompson
- Forrest Creamer, Aztec Chevrolet
- Michael Grishman
- Rose Franco, Farmers Insurance
Behind the scenes, Coastal Bend College student-athletes, coaches, and staff worked together to organize and host the event, creating an enjoyable experience for a large community turnout.
“The egg hunt at Joe Hunter Field was a tremendous success, and it was wonderful to see so many families from our community come out to enjoy the evening and create lasting memories,” said Vincente “Vinnie” Garza, CBC athletic director. “Kudos to the CBC baseball and softball programs, along with our student-athletes and staff, for their hard work in helping organize and host the event. I would also like to thank our generous sponsors for their donations and continued support. We appreciate everyone in the community who joined us and helped make the event such a great experience. We are already looking forward to hosting the egg hunt again next year and continuing this fun tradition at Coastal Bend College.”
With strong community participation, the event shows promise to grow into a signature annual tradition at Coastal Bend College.
