CARE TEAM  

 

PURPOSE

The safety of students at Coastal Bend College is extremely important to us. The CBC C.A.R.E. (Concern, Assess, Response, Evaluate) Team works collaboratively and proactively to provide early intervention and assistance to CBC students who needs assistance. The team uses approaches to identify, assess and alleviate risks associated with students exhibiting concerning behaviors or thoughts. The CARE Team ensures that the student is referred to the appropriate resources.     

 

ROLE OF THE CARE TEAM

Provide consultation and support to students who display concerning or disruptive behaviors; gather information to assess the situation involving individuals who display concerning or disruptive behaviors; educate and empower the college community to recognize, report and effectively address concerning or disruptive behaviors; recommend appropriate intervention strategies (utilizing the NaBITA Risk Rubric)connect students with campus and community resources; implement case management plan or support services.

REFERRAL PROCESS

Step 1: Complete & submit the CARE Team Referral Form


Step 2: The CARE Team will meet to discuss to recommend appropriate intervention strategies to student.
  

The CARE Team reviews referrals during normal hours of operation, Mon.-Fri., 8 AM - 5 PM and during the Summer Mon.-Thurs., 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. 

NOTE: The CARE Team Referral Form should NOT be used for emergency situations. In case of an emergency call 9-1-1.
