Phlebotomy

Are you passionate about helping others and eager to launch a fulfilling career in healthcare? The Phlebotomy Training Program at Coastal Bend College provides hands-on, comprehensive instruction designed to prepare you for success as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). Through classroom learning and clinical experience, you’ll gain the essential skills and knowledge to perform blood collection safely and confidently in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.

How to Apply

1. Submit Your Application:
   
  Submit your complete application to ce@coastalbend.edu. 

• One of the CE staff members will review the student's application for any necessary documentation. Once the student's application is approved and completed, the student is eligible for admission to the course. 
  
  

2. Gather Required Documents:  

  Criminal History Background Check Results: 

• Conduct a background check using the Texas DPS website (https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/crime-records) and provide a screen capture of the results. 

  Immunization Records: 

• Provide a copy of your up-to-date immunization records. 

• Visit https://www.dshs.texas.gov/immunizations  

  • under “Immunization Quick Links” click on “Requesting Immunization Records”, fill out the linked PDF and email the completed form to ImmTrac2@dshs.texas.gov  

• If unavailable, consider a TITER blood test from CVS, Quest Diagnostics, or Next Care Urgent Care to demonstrate immunity through antibodies. 

  High School Diploma or GED: 

• Provide a copy of your diploma or GED certificate. 

• Students must have completed their sophomore year of high school. 
  
  

3. Tuition Payment:  

• The total program tuition is $750 ($350 for classroom and $400 for clinicals). 

• You must pay the full tuition by the program's start date.
