Adkins reported that a called meeting of the Student Success response on the proposal.  Mostly positive responses were given. If offered by curriculum/departments there may not be enough students each semester to offer/make the class.  Questions were on non-degree seeking students, mandatory dual credit orientation including these topics. Life skills will also need to be addressed. Would a workforce or academic course give us the most financial reimbursement?  We might be able team teach this course by specific topic.  Divisions are concerned about losing contact hour funding.   We need to explore best practices on this issue; whether it will articulate or transfer; include how to do research across the curriculum.  Adkins will survey the faculty for possible topics in the course.  Elizalde suggested we pilot this and then evaluate the course to improve it.
        • College Review of Student Success Course (Candia) Candia reported from Inside Higher Education only 15% of colleges require this course.  The same issues we have discussed were mention.  Colin County (free but register) and Del Mar (new student noncredit) strongly encourage orientation courses.
