• VN Selection Criteria 

     

    The selection committee utilizes multiple criteria to select applicants for the Vocational Nursing Program.  Each applicant is scored and the top scores are selected to be enrolled in the program.  

    • TEAS Test overall score of 55% with a minimum score of 40 in each category: Math, Reading, Science, Writing.  Points will be awarded based on the overall score as follows:

         75 - 79  5
         70 - 74  4
         65 - 69  3
         60 - 64  2
         55 - 59  1

    • GPA of Prerequisite Coursework: EDUC 1300, BCIS 1305, & HPRS 1106 or Substitution (Must earn a “C” or great to be considered completed).  Points will be awarded as follows the AVERAGE of the grades:

    • Additional Coursework: BIOL 2301/2101 or BIOL 2401 and BIOL 2302/2102 or BIOL 2402 (Must earn a “C” or greater to be considered completed).  Points will be awarded as an AVERAGE of the two grades:

       C = 2    

    • Completion of CBC Certifications.  Points will be awarded as follows:

       Fundamentals of Patient Care Technician  3
       Fundamentals of Nurse Aide  2

    • Employment in Health Care - requires verification form from employer

       Tier One: Paramedics, Medication Aide, Advance EMT, Medical assistant, Patient care Technician Respiratory Therapist   2
       Tier Two: Certified Nurse Aide, Basic EMT, Physical Therapist Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Assistant,
